Terms of Service

Who we are

Vertical Faces is a casting marketplace connecting actors working in vertical micro-drama with the productions that hire them: studios, production companies and independent producers.

We are a marketplace and a payment intermediary. We are not the employer of any actor, and we are not a party to the engagement between an actor and a production. The booking terms are agreed between those two parties; our role is to make those terms explicit, hold the funds until the work is done, and enforce the rules below.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. There are no accounts for minors, and casting calls for minors are not permitted.

You must provide accurate information and keep it current. Accounts on the hiring side must pass verification before posting a casting call or contacting an actor.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by members of your team who hold seats on it. Keep your credentials private and enable two-factor authentication where we require it — which includes any account that can trigger or receive a payment.

You may close your account at any time. Closing an account does not cancel bookings that are already funded or in progress.

If you are an actor

You publish a profile, showreels and an availability calendar. You are responsible for the accuracy of all three — in particular your availability, because productions rely on it to decide whether to contact you at all.

You may only upload footage you have the right to share. Accepting a booking is a commitment to the dates and terms in it.

If you are a producer

This applies whether you are a studio, a production company or an independent producer working under your own name.

You must describe the work honestly: the role, the dates, the location, the rate and the image rights you are asking for. You may not use the platform to source anything other than the engagement you have described, and you may not request that an actor pay for anything at any point.

Bookings and payment

A booking is an offer from a production to an actor, containing dates, a role, an agreed rate and terms. The actor may accept or decline; an offer that is not answered expires after 72 hours.

Once accepted, the production funds the booking. The funds are held by the platform and are released to the actor after both parties confirm that the engagement is complete, or automatically seven days after the end date if no dispute has been opened.

We charge a commission of 12% of the booking amount. It is deducted at release, so the actor receives 88% of the agreed rate. There are no listing fees and no fee to apply.

Cancellation and disputes

Before funding, either party may withdraw at no cost. After funding, the cancellation terms agreed in the booking apply, and the funds remain held until the position is resolved rather than moving automatically to either side.

Either party may open a dispute during the seven-day window following the end date. A dispute freezes the transfer and is reviewed by us. Our decision determines how the held funds are allocated.

Content and image rights

You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant us a licence to host, encode and display it on the platform for the purpose of operating the service, and to display public profile content publicly where you have chosen to make it public.

Image rights for footage shot during an engagement are governed by the terms of the booking, agreed between the actor and the production. We are not a party to that grant and do not acquire rights in the footage.

Prohibited conduct

You may not: request or offer sexual or intimate content; arrange auditions in private residences or hotel rooms; ask an actor to pay for anything; share or solicit contact details before a booking is accepted; impersonate a production, a person or a series; scrape the roster; or use the platform to harass anyone.

Our Trust & Safety page describes these rules and the reasoning behind them in full.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we will say why unless doing so would compromise an investigation or someone's safety. Where funds are held for a booking involving a suspended account, we resolve the booking before closing the account.

Liability

We provide the platform as it is. We do not guarantee that a booking will be offered, accepted or completed, and we are not responsible for the conduct of any user on a set or off the platform.

What we are responsible for is the service itself: holding funds as described, applying our own rules, and handling your data as set out in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We will notify account holders by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after that date means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

The governing law and the courts with jurisdiction will be those of the operating entity's home jurisdiction, which is not yet settled. This section will be completed before these terms are published as binding.
